🌊 Literacy Learners Water Day — Session: 2
13 Learners, Big Success

Today’s Literacy Learners session was all about WATER — why we need it, how we use it, and how we can protect it. With 13 learners in attendance, the room was full of excitement, creativity, and hands‑on learning.

📘 Featured Book — Why Do We Need Water? by Kelley MacAulay
Our lesson centered on this engaging nonfiction book, helping learners explore:
-
Water’s importance in daily life
-
How humans, plants, and animals use water
-
Ways to conserve water
-
New vocabulary like “hydrate,” “evaporate,” and “freshwater”
Learners practiced reading aloud, answering comprehension questions, and connecting the book to real‑life experiences.

🎒 Water‑Themed Literacy Bundle
Each child received a Water Worksheet Bundle designed to strengthen reading and science understanding. The bundle included:
-
Water cycle worksheet
-
Vocabulary cards
-
Reading comprehension page
-
Mini writing prompt
-

🎨 Hands‑On Project — Personalized Water Bottles
For today’s creative project, each learner designed their own personalized water bottle using their favorite colors and decorations. This activity helped reinforce:
-
Healthy hydration habits
-
Personal responsibility
-
Creative expression
The kids were excited to take home a water bottle that reflected their personality — and several said they couldn’t wait to use it tomorrow.
