Today’s UBGC Literacy Learners session welcomed 2 parents and 5 young learners for a fun, engaging, and health‑focused literacy experience. Our read‑aloud book of the day was Pout‑Pout Fish Goes to the Dentist, which introduced children to positive dental habits in a gentle, kid‑friendly way.

Learners participated in a hands‑on project and group discussion centered on toothbrushing, healthy dental routines, and caring for their smiles. Each child received a Literacy Bundle filled with worksheets and activities that reinforced the day’s theme. Learners also received a dental‑themed coloring book, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss — generously provided by the Delta Dental Foundation.

 

Several of our Spring Literacy Learners were unable to attend because they are currently enrolled in summer school. To ensure they remain connected and supported, UBGC prepared Literacy Bundles and “Snacks‑On‑The‑Go” bags for them. These learners will rejoin the program once summer school ends in a few weeks, and UBGC continues to provide resources that keep them learning even while away from the session.
